A riot of colour as far as you look, this once a year floral spectacular is worth the hours drive from Bristol. These confetti fields are my all time favourite location for family photography, I think you’ll agree this is a special place when you look through my images below.
The newborn baby and family photography session featured today took place in Redland. It’s an area I know well having grown up a mile from here, so I reminisced in the car about my old stomping ground as I drove through Bristol’s streets en-route to this very special family photography shoot.
Being invited in to someone’s home for a family shoot is always enjoyable, especially a home so light and airy as Sian’s. I was really looking forward to this family session – partly as I secretly miss not having a baby to cuddle (were my children really that small?) So yep, I loved meeting newborn baby Evie and three-year-old Ellis. Having been recommended to Sian by a past family photography client, I knew that Sian was someone who appreciates family imagery and this was clear by the beautiful photographs on the walls of her home. She’s a girl after my own heart!
Photographing small children requires patience and I promise you I have it. With two small children of my own I know they don’t always want to have their photographs taken, so please don’t ever feel any pressure or expectation on my part if you book me to photograph your children, I’m laid back and go with the flow, determined to work with whatever is thrown at me.
Ellis I have to say was a natural in front of the camera, he was happy to read books to his Daddy (Stick Man incase you wondered…. we both knew the words), he showed me his toys and played trains with Daddy. It was lovely to see his personality shine through when he played hide & seek in the mirror with his Mummy. Then how his energy was quietened for a really tender moment when he got to lovingly hold his beautiful three week old sister.
Evie was a darling all through her shoot, a natural! I’m so pleased I was able to capture individual images of her, as well as a selection of her with her family.
If you are interested in a family shoot with me please do get in touch. I love at home shoots like this but am equally happy to head outdoors too. Let’s discuss what you’re thinking 🙂
Being at home is the best way to capture your children being themselves. However, if you’d prefer to head outdoors then we can arrange an outdoor session also. Just get in touch today to discuss availability.
Once a year, for 10 days only, the 27 acre delphinium fields in Pershore open their gates to the public. I’ll be there amidst the colourful blooms holding family photo sessions on Sunday 30th June 2019, for one day only. The confetti fields are only open to the public once a year so I’m delighted to be there as an official photographer. The field are around 45 minutes North of Bristol.
The flower fields are owned by the Real Flower Petal Confetti Co . It is the source of bio-degradable confetti used by wedding couples all over the country. Every year, the field opens for just over a week at the end of June / July, when people travel from all over the world to take photos here. You can get lost in the sea of delphiniums, and this is what I did last year when I took Poppy & Caspar to see the amazing fields. The fields are incredibly colourful, ranging from pastel pinks to bold purple, to pure white and soft blue and they make the most perfect backdrop for a family photography session.
With a pop up cafe on site and the chance to purchase cut delphiniums there is plenty to do after your shoot, including watching the confetti pickers cutting the harvest.
The session is valued at £185, this price includes
a private gallery post shoot where you can view all images and download them directly
A minimum of 45 images, all individually edited.
Artistic direction to ensure we maximise the location and location.
Since sharing on Instagram I’ve already booked 1/3 of my sessions for the day so please contact me as soon as possible if you’d like to book.
Thanks to Fiona Legge for capturing these images of me and my little people. They really are special to me 🙂
So I have officially been rubbish at updating my blog. Doesn’t mean I haven’t thought about it often though but apologies I’ve haven’t been a frequent blogger in 2018! I’ve missed this space and can only hold my hands up and be honest in that 2018 saw me juggling probably one too many balls. However, I’m here now and wanted to say hi, share an update and also a few images from some recent family photography sessions.
